The Big Cheese: Ilya Bryzgalov

by Alex Young

Sure, the Flyers lost badly last night, 4-1, but Bryz probably had his best game of the playoffs.

For two periods he was the best player on the ice and stopped everything that came at him. If his team had given him and more cushion the Flyers would have won the game easily.

I got chills when the Wells Fargo Center crowd gave him a standing ovation and started chanting his name. It’s been a long time since the Flyers have had a goalie that could put the rest of the team on his back and win games for them. Bryz almost did it last night.

Things fell apart in the third, the Devils’ first goal just took the seal off the net, but if Bryz can keep playing like he did in the first two periods the  Flyers just might have a chance in this post season.
